Deer...

I've been spending this week camping along the St. Louis river and loving on Brooklyn. We spend the mornings at her house and by lunch time Grandma gets too hot in their house with no AC so we go back to the rv to play and nap. She loves to explore the new spaces and especially loves the windows that are low enough for her to look out of.
You would think we would see deer in a wooded campground but no - every morning we watch these twins in Brooklyn's backyard!

long time no see....

A LONG, photo heavy and overdue post... I've been a very busy woman the last few weeks and computer "fun" time as well as blogging have been low on the priority list. What have I been doing? Being a Grandma is high on the priority list and I've been spending lots of time with this cute little girl!
Bailey is such a good little baby and humors her grandma by letting her pose her in all kinds of props to take her photo!
Grandma saved her daddy's beloved sock monkey for 33 years and added a tutu to match Bailey's :) Monkey has been so loved that he has lots of repair scars to show for it.
This one shows Bailey laying on one of the 2 quilts Grandma made for her. Her mommy and daddy are avid Timberwolves fans so she needed a team themed quilt to snuggle under and cheer for them.
I just love seeing a baby in a basket...
This weekend Auntie Jayme and I hosted a baby shower for little Miss Bailey and Grandma was so busy manning the tables and visiting that she didn't get her camera out. Lucky Auntie Jayme did so HERE is a link to her blog and if you don't pop over for a visit a quick peek at some of her photos...
This week I am fortunate and get to spend lots of time with my other little Princess, Miss Brooklyn! At 10 months, she is growing by leaps and bounds and is such a little ball of energy. Yesterday, Jayme and I took her to the Rose Garden, overlooking Lake Superior in Duluth for a quick photo shoot. Grandma bought her a chair at a thrift store and Brooklyn loves it and acts like the Princess she is in it...
There is not a day that goes by that Jeff and I don't thank God for our 2 beautiful granddaughters - what a joy they have brought to our lives! Thanks for letting me show them off today - Brooklyn and I are hoping to have a slightly overcast day to go back to the Rose Garden and take some photos of the beautiful flowers there!

a mosaic of garden shots...

After most of July spent in temps above 90 it was wonderful to get out in the cooler (77 degrees) garden this weekend to see what has been surviving the heat and drought.

The things that thrived the most were the weeds but overall it isn't looking too bad considering that I haven't been watering.

Jeff helped me transplant some shrubs that were too big for the front of the house and this week I plant to get out there and weed. Look for another garden tour by the end of the week.

Loving all the butterflies that have been around lately!

Grandbabies...

are such a gift in life!
I never understood grandmothers and how they felt about their grandchildren until Jayme's pregnancy with Ethan and then the births of these two little angels. Oh, how I LOVE them!
Sorry for the lack of garden posts lately, I have been spending ALL my spare time painting an entire house we purchased and will be renting out. Today, is my last day of finishing up projects and then I can spend time actually enjoying my hobbies in my free time. Grandma has lots of sewing projects lined for those Bailey & Brooklyn as well as catching up in the garden :)

Cousins...

Bailey came home from the hospital on Saturday and Brooklyn and her mommy and daddy drove down from Duluth to meet her. Of course Grandma couldn't resist getting them matching outfits for the two little cousins first time together.
Bailey thought the photo shoot wasn't very fun so we'll try again another time :)

She's here!

Introducing our newest little family member...Bailey Evelyn!
7 lbs 5 oz of pure joy in a 20 1/2 inch package of love. We are so excited for our son, Nathan & daughter-in-law, Tammy as they welcomed their new little daughter into the world last night. Grandma & Grandpa got to hold her within 1/2 hour of birth and she is just the most precious little baby, alert & checking out all the members of her family with curious eyes.
I'm sure the "garden of life" part of this blog will showcase many more photos in the days to come.
