We are having gorgeous October weather and I still have quite a few monarchs around the garden.
Knowing they won't be here much longer I decided to take a few photos to get me through the long MN winter.
As usual a few photos turns into lots of photos so I put some into mosaics...
and while these last 2 shots aren't October butterflies, they were just to cute not to share :)
Frog Update: (Jayme look away now!) I still have so many frogs in the yard and garden. This past week, my pond pump quit running twice because the intake was clogged with frogs seeking warmer water in the skimmer box!
If the rain stays away this afternoon, my plan is to take a 5 gallon pail and the net and try to relocate as many as I can...stay tuned to see if I'm successful!
We are having beautiful autumn weather with temps around 80 and I am loving October! This morning I shot robins and yellow rumped warblers through the window as I had breakfast. I think I need to take advantage of this great weather to get my windows washed :)
Yesterday, was spent celebrating Baby Bee and mommy-to-be, Jayme, with the Bee family. His/her 2 aunties, Erin & Alaina hosted a baby shower for Jayme that was lots of fun and filled with love and laughter celebrating baby bee's coming arrival. His/her cousin, Braxton, also enjoyed the shower even helping Grandma Bee with her answers to one of the games.
Scott & Jayme posed for some photos after the shower and I may be a little bias but I have no doubt that baby bee will be a beautiful baby :)
I have been anxiously awaiting for October to arrive since late February when we first learned baby Bee was on the way!
In late July, we had quite a scare when he/she almost made an early arrival but thanks to modern medicine here we are at October and anticipating a full term baby.
While out photographing the garden color yesterday, I noticed lots of little bees in the garden so I couldn't think of a better subject to usher in October and the anticipation of the arrival of baby Bee.

It was such a gorgeous day today that I spent some time this afternoon in the gardens.
Everything is still so bright and beautiful that it is hard to believe it is September 30th already.
I also saw my first junco of the season (he was too quick for my camera) which is a good reminder that this beautiful autumn is passing way to quickly.
While my afternoon was spent outside...my morning was spent loving on these chubby cheeks. Mari is growing so fast and she actually looks like she is interested in my babblings :) 
By the time I got home J had the camper loaded up and we were off to take one last camping trip of 2011. Usually, we camp well into October to enjoy the fall colors but this year we are on "baby bee watch" as well as attending weekend baby showers for Jayme & baby bee. As usual we spent our final camping weekend of the season at Lac qui Parle state park where you camp on the prairie and enjoy the views of the river from your campsite. I imagine it would be quite hot in the summer but in the cool of the fall there is no better place to sit outside and watch the deer in the meadow below and enjoy a great campfire.
By 7 pm we were back at the campsite and enjoying a glass of wine while watching a family fly kites as our dinner cooked on the grill.
Soon it was time to sit by the fire and enjoy the cool weather and sunset...
it was a great weekend!
This morning I watched a robin who thought the rock was his alone, it didn't matter if it was other robins or as in the case above a mourning dove.
I'm grateful to still have hummingbirds visiting, especially since I got a window feeder and they feed 2 ft away from my chair!
